Day 6: HISTORIC BEECHWORTH | MELBOURNEB D
This morning we return to Beechworth for some local sightseeing including a visit to the Burke Museum – the oldest country museum in Victoria.
The discovery of gold in the 1850’s brought with it a flurry of activity and growth to Beechworth. The magnificent buildings, 32 of which are listed by the National Trust and the beautiful gardens are a legacy of the gold rush days. We have time to purchase lunch (maybe the smells of the famous Beechworth bakery may tempt your appetite!) before commencing the journey back to Melbourne.
