Today we have a full day of touring planned to the vibrant little town of Kuranda, famous for its markets and surrounded by World Heritage rainforest. Nestled in the mountainside, the village has come a long way from its initial origins as a centre for those choosing an alternative lifestyle in the late 1960s. We join the Skyrail Cableway at the terminal where we join a gondola that will take us across the rooftop of the tropical rainforest. The views are spectacular and we’ll stop off during our ascent for a short walk along the boardwalks. Upon reaching Kuranda we alight and enjoy some free time to wander the many shops showcasing locally handcrafted goods, arts and crafts. This afternoon we join the Kuranda Scenic Railway for our descent back to Cairns. Constructed between 1882 and 1891, the railway is considered an engineering feat of tremendous magnitude. The train journey will also take us through the magnificent Barron Falls National Park and close to the Barron Falls themselves. We are met at Freshwater Station and transferred back to our hotel.
Following breakfast, we transfer to Cairns Airport for our flight home to Perth. Upon arrival into
Perth your driver will be waiting to take you home.
