This is something different! We fly you to Adelaide for the night before boarding the Great Southern journey from Adelaide to Brisbane, embracing the wonders of Australia’s south-east corner in laid-back luxury.
Leaving Adelaide behind, you can relax, unwind and enjoy world-class service as the spectacular landscapes glide by. Lap up the wild and spectacular scenery of the Grampians region, with its ancient sandstone mountains and diverse native wildlife. Delve into the art, history and culinary culture of Canberra, and discover the nation’s capital. Feel the sand between your toes in the picturesque coastal town of Coffs Harbour. Then enjoy stunning views of northern New South Wales as you roll into the final destination of Brisbane.
The journey is two nights and includes meals, fine wines, and beverages and Off Train Experiences in the Grampians, Canberra or Murrumbateman Wine Region and Coffs Harbour.
On arrival in Brisbane we will transfer you to the Stamford Plaza and enjoy 3-nights in this wonderful city with local touring and Australia Day celebrations.
A deposit of $200 per person is required to secure your booking. This deposit is refundable or transferable if the tour does not proceed due to COVID-19 or border restrictions.
Your holiday begins when you are picked up from home by a private vehicle and transferred to the airport. Meet your fellow travellers and Kings Tour Manager and fly to Adelaide. Upon our arrival into Adelaide, we enjoy a brief city tour before transferring to the hotel where we have time to settle in before enjoying our first dinner as a group.
Hotel: The Stamford Plaza, Adelaide for 1 night
After breakfast we transfer to Adelaide Rail Station where we embark the Great Southern. As the train leaves Adelaide, take your time to settle in and get familiar with your cabin. Enjoy morning tea and then savour a relaxed lunch on board while watching the ever-changing landscape glide by. In the late afternoon, the train will arrive in regional Victoria where you’ll have a chance to experience the beauty of the Grampians region. Enjoy the stunning natural surrounds and native wildlife while sampling some of the local food and wine. With options to take a guided walk or drive to a lookout, your visit to the Grampians is sure to be a highlight.
Train: The Great Southern for 2 nights
Enjoy a drive through the countryside on the way to the Nation’s capital where you will enjoy a visit to Parliament House and lunch before your choice of tours at the National War Memorial, Parliament House, National Gallery of Australia or the National Museum of Australia. Or, spend a relaxed day wine tasting and dining in the Murrumbateman Food and Wine region before returning to the train. Later in the day, relax and enjoy a delicious dinner and drinks in the lounge car before settling down for the night.
Choose your own adventure today with a variety of options to suit your fitness level and interests. Opt for the Boardwalk to Beach excursion, stopping at the small station of Urunga to take in the spectacular coastline views and Great Dividing Range along the Urunga Boardwalk before travelling to Coffs Harbour for a relaxing morning wandering around the Harbourside Markets, historic jetty or simply relaxing by the seaside. The Coffs Explorer excursion travels up to Sealy Lookout offering views for miles from the Forest Sky Pier before travelling back to Coffs for time to explore the markets, historic jetty or relax by the beach. Otherwise, simply make the most of Coffs Harbour’s beautiful beaches with an entire morning spent seaside. Wander along the coast, have a dip in the ocean, play a game of beach cricket or simply relax on the sand. After your Coffs Harbour morning, enjoy a final lunch on board with your fellow travellers before arriving into Brisbane.
Hotel: Stamford Plaza Brisbane for 3 nights
Today we head out on a city sights tour of Brisbane ending with a tour and lunch at Newstead House. Newstead House is Brisbane’s oldest surviving home, established in 1846. From here we head to Mt Coot-tha Lookout; the highest hill in the city, where you will be able to see the Glasshouse Mountains and Lamington National Park. Mid-afternoon we return to the hotel where the remainder of your day will be at leisure.
Late morning we are off to Southbank to ride on the new Wheel of Brisbane; the giant observation wheel that offers a spectacular 360 degree panoramic view of the city. You’ll have some time to explore the precinct and purchase lunch and see the festivities on the River set for Australia Day. We return to the hotel to freshen up for dinner where we will see the fireworks display.
This morning after breakfast we check out of the hotel and head to Brisbane Airport for our flight home to Perth. Upon arrival into Perth your driver will be waiting to take you home.
