Your holiday begins when you are picked up from home and transferred to the airport in a private vehicle. Meet your fellow travellers and Kings Tour Manager then fly to Adelaide. Upon arrival we are met by our local coach operator and transferred to our hotel for the next two nights.
Hotel: Mayfair Hotel for 2 nights
We are joined by a local guide and introduced to the beautiful city of Adelaide. At Monteflore Hill, we can see the spot from where Colonel Light planned a great city of the future in the sweeping valley below. Nearby is one of Adelaide’s most prominent landmarks – St Peters Cathedral, which overlooks the city from North Adelaide and below us is the redeveloped Adelaide Oval, where we embark on a guided tour. Our next visit is to the Adelaide Zoo which is home to Wang Wang and Funi, the Southern Hemispheres only breading pair of Giant Pandas. Leaving here we have the rest of the afternoon at leisure.
Leaving Adelaide, we have an opportunity to learn about station life at Bungaree Station and enjoy lunch. Later this afternoon we arrive in Wilpena Pound, a natural Amphitheatre of mountains, covering eight times the area of Uluru and is 300 metre higher, such an aweinspiring vision to be held!
Hotel: Wilpena Pound Resort, Flinders Ranges for 2 nights
Today we uncover the dramatic gorges and spectacular peaks of the Flinders Ranges. We meet our local guide who will take us on an insider’s tour of this stunning National Park. We enjoy a visit to Gumcreek Station for lunch before returning to Wilpena mid-afternoon. We complete our outback experience with Stokes Hill Sundowners to observe the ever-changing colours of sunset over Wilpena Pound with refreshing predinner drinks and canapes. We have an early start to the day and drive south to Hawker to visit Jeff Morgans Gallery where we not only see but experience the “Wilpena Panorama”. This is a 360° view as seen from St Mary’s Peak, the highest point of Wilpena Pound. We then continue south to the stunning Clare Valley where we stop for lunch at Sevenhill Hotel. From one wine region to the next, this afternoon sit back and relax as we travel through to the Barossa Valley for the next two nights.
Hotel: Barossa Weintal Hotel for 2 nights
We start the day with a visit to the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company. Next we head to one of the Barossa Valleys most iconicwineries – Seppeltsfield. Here we will embark on a Village Discovery tour visiting Jam Factory Craft + Design studios, FINO restaurant for a sourdough tasting with a member of FINO, Vasse Virgin skin care sampling and to finish the tour with a Cellar door wine tasting! Lunch will be enjoyed at the Barossa Chateau and then we visit the Whispering Wall which is locally known as the “acoustic miracle”.
Today we travel through the Adelaide hills, stopping in the small township of Woodside where we visit Melbas Chocolate Factory. We have time here to wander and watch a traditional range of sweets and chocolates being made using heritage equipment. Next we visit Hahndorf – Australia’s oldest surviving German Settlement. We have time here to explore the many shops and galleries and time to purchase lunch. After lunch we visit the World renowned artist, Hans Heysen house. Leaving the area we make our way to Cape Jervis and board the ferry service across to Kangaroo Island. We then make our way to the Aurora Ozone Hotel where we check in and enjoy dinner.
Hotel: Aurora Ozone Hotel, Kangaroo Island for 3 nights
Today we visit some interesting attractions unique to Kangaroo Island. The first is Clifford’s Honey Farm – home to Kangaroo Island’s own population of the only pure strain bees in the world – Ligurian bees. We embark on an interesting tour and taste some delicious honey ice cream before visiting Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery. Here we take a tour and enjoy our lunch. We continue to Raptor Domain to see a wonderful Birds of Prey show, an interactive and educational experience before returning to our hotel with some free time before dinner.
Kangaroo Island has an abundance of incredible wildlife and today we have the chance to get up close and personal. We travel to famous Seal Bay for a chance to walk on the beach amongst the colony of Australian Sea Lions who live here all year round. It is an unforgettable experience to be guided by a National Parks Ranger, within metres of the bulls, cows and sea pups as they rest on the beach. This afternoon we visit the Flinders Chase National Park home to Remarkable Rocks, Cape du Couedic, Admirals Arch and a spectacular coastal board walk, we can see a colony of New Zealand Fur Seals below us. At Rocky River we should see plenty of Cape Barren Geese and maybe a Tamar Wallaby or two. It will be a day of remarkable wildlife experiences.
After breakfast we return to Penneshaw where we catch the morning ferry to Cape Jervis. From here we travel to the Adelaide Airport for our return flight to Perth. Upon arrival in Perth your driver will be waiting to take you home.
