HIGHLIGHTS OF TASMANIA featuring Cradle Mountain Lodge

Enjoy a guided Hobart city tour including a drive to the summit of Mt Wellington for sweeping views over the city and surrounds. Return to Hobart for a traditional High Tea at Hadley’s Orient Hotel, featuring fine teas, scones, finger sandwiches and sweet treats. The evening is at leisure to explore the waterfront.

Travel to the Tasman Peninsula, passing “Doo Town” and natural landmarks including Tasman Arch and Devils Kitchen. Visit the Port Arthur Historic Site, including the Visitor Interpretive Centre and a guided walking tour of the convict settlement. Free time follows to further explore the site and enjoy lunch. Leaving Port Arthur, we return to Hobart with time to freshen up before enjoying dinner at The Point Revolving Restaurant in Sandy Bay.

After breakfast, depart Hobart and travel north through Tasmania’s scenic countryside. Enjoy changing landscapes and scenic stops along the way, with time to purchase lunch (own expense). Arrive at the world-renowned Cradle Mountain region and settle into your alpine lodge, surrounded by pristine wilderness and fresh mountain air. This evening, enjoy dinner at the lodge.

Hotel: Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge for 2 nights

This morning, visit Devils @ Cradle, a unique conservation centre dedicated to the Tasmanian devil. Learn about the species’ behaviour, biology and ongoing protection efforts through an up-close keeper experience. Return to the lodge for lunch at Peppers Bar & Bistro before joining a guided tour of Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park. Visit highlights including the historic Waldheim Chalet and take in the dramatic alpine scenery. Return to the lodge for leisure time before dinner.

Travel along Tasmania’s north coast, beginning with a visit to the stunning Emu Valley Rhododendron Gardens, a 11-hectare collection of themed woodland gardens featuring thousands of plants from around the world. Continue to Sheffield, the famous “Town of Murals”, where there is time to explore and enjoy lunch at a local bakery (own expense). Then visit Evandale, a beautifully preserved Georgian and Victorian village known for its historic charm and annual Penny Farthing races. Arrive in Launceston and check into your hotel for a 3-night stay. This evening, enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Hotel: Hotel Grand Chancellor, Launceston for 3 nights

Start the day at the Launceston Markets before boarding a scenic 50-minute cruise through the spectacular Cataract Gorge aboard the Lady Launceston, a replica 1890s vessel. Cruise through the Seaport precinct and learn about Launceston’s maritime history while enjoying unique river views. Continue to Deloraine, a charming township with cafés available for lunch (own expense) and time to explore before returning to Launceston for dinner.

Enjoy a relaxed morning before travelling to Beauty Point, where you visit Platypus House and Seahorse World for rare and memorable wildlife encounters. Enjoy lunch overlooking the water before returning via Grindelwald, where you can relax and enjoy a locally made ice cream in this Swiss-style village setting. This evening, gather for your farewell dinner at a local Launceston restaurant.

Travel through Scottsdale to the world-famous Bridestowe Lavender Estate. Enjoy a guided tour of the flower shed and distillery and learn about the production of premium lavender products, followed by lunch. Continue to the Legerwood Carved Memorial Trees, a moving tribute to WWI soldiers, before visiting historic Franklin House. Your Highlights of Tasmania tour comes to a close, later this afternoon, transfer to Launceston Airport for your return flight to Perth. On arrival, you will be met and transferred home by private vehicle.
