Tour Conditions

A non-refundable/non-transferable deposit of $1250 per person is due within 7 days of booking due to Journey Beyond’s terms and conditions. This deposit guarantees your reservation on the tour and acceptance of our terms and conditions. 

Tours are based on reaching a minimum number. Home pick-up and return is included based on a set radius – surcharges will apply outside these areas. Other special conditions may apply to each individual tour, please contact the office for further details.

GOLD CABINS ON THE GHAN

  • For Gold Twin, a comfortable sleeper cabin featuring a private en suite with upper and lower berths that convert to a three-seater lounge by day
  • For Gold Single, a compact sleeper cabin featuring a bed that converts to a seat by day and shared shower/toilet facilities located at the end of the carriage

Itinerary

Day 1PERTH TO ADELAIDE (D)

Your holiday begins when you are picked up from home and transferred to the airport in a private vehicle. Meet your Kings Tour Manager and fellow passengers and fly to Adelaide. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and settle in. Tonight, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant

Hotel: Stamford Plaza Adelaide for 1 night

Day 2ADELAIDE SIGHTS & ICONIC EXPERIENCES (BL)

Start the day with a visit to the seaside suburb of Glenelg before travelling to the McLaren Vale wine region. Tour the striking d’Arenberg Cube, then enjoy a leisurely lunch accompanied by fine wines at Wirra Wirra, surrounded by picturesque vineyards.

Day 3BOARD THE GHAN (BD)

Enjoy a brief city tour and lunch stop before transferring to Adelaide Railway Terminal to board The Ghan. Travel north through ever-changing landscapes as you settle into life on board. Early evening, alight at Long Plains and transfer to a renowned South Australian wine region for a special dinner showcasing local produce and wines. Return to the train and continue north overnight.

Day 4FLINDERS RANGES (BLD)

Wake in Port Augusta, gateway to the outback. Today’s Off Train Experience explores the Flinders Ranges—an ancient landscape of rugged peaks, dramatic gorges and rich wildlife. After a full day of discovery, rejoin the train for a relaxed evening on board.

Day 5MARLA AND ALICE SPRINGS (BLD)

Begin the day at Marla, a remote outback outpost near the Northern Territory border, with time to take in the stillness of the desert. Enjoy brunch on board as the journey continues to Alice Springs. Choose from Off Train Experiences including the A Town Called Alice tour, Standley Chasm, Desert Park, or Simpsons Gap. Optional helicopter flights offer a bird’s-eye view of the region. Return to the train for dinner and an evening on board.

Day 6KATHERINE AND DARWIN (BL)

Arrive in the tropical north and experience Nitmiluk Gorge on a guided cruise, learning about its significance to the Jawoyn people. Alternative experiences include the Katherine Outback Experience or Cutta Cutta Caves, with an optional helicopter upgrade available. Continue to Darwin, where the rail journey concludes. Transfer to your hotel and enjoy a farewell dinner.

Day 7DARWIN TO PERTH (BL)

After a leisurely breakfast and check-out, we depart the hotel and enjoy lunch at a local café. Following lunch, we take in a sightseeing tour of Darwin before transferring to the airport for our flight home. Upon arrival in Perth, your driver is waiting to transfer you home, bringing to an end a memorable journey aboard one of the world’s most renowned rail adventures.
